Daybreak Tunnel Mural, 2023

Daybreak Utah, Tunnel Mural

June

A very quick and challenging surface, 24 hours over four days with some assistance. This mural started on a brick wall that looked challenging (but, I figured I would be able to handle it, I’ll chalk nearly anything). We measured out the letters with a time consuming 2.5 hours. I came back the next day to chalk and learned quickly this surface was not going to hold chalk due to the excessive paint layers. Due to my limited timeline in Utah, we hurried to scout a new location for this thirty foot mural. We found a wall with less paint layers that would hold the chalk. Again, measuring out the letters meticulously. Luckily I had several helping hands in this project. Each letter has a unique Daybreak community activity. The people of Daybreak were so kind and caring, aside from the ones who called the cops on me. Each day I came back to no graffiti, no smudges. Everyone respected the piece.
